Cavaglia, 1692 m.

This page pays attention to the station of Cavaglia as its being built by Vincent. This station isn't only for use in our club layout but also for use at home with Vincent. That gives some extra details to the electric part of this station.

Cavaglia is the station south of Alp Grüm.
Its situated on a plateau between 2, for the train, difficult descends.
After Cavaglia there is a second set of hear needle turns to bring the tracks down to the level of Poschiavo.

Please find a picture based report below of our model of the station of Cavaglia with the oldest shot at the bottom.
This page is a mix of pictures from the real Cavaglia and our model layout.

First start with overhead wiring on Cavaglia

April 2014.
It's been quiet for a while around Cavaglia.
A lot has been done in the mean time around the house and on small things but now it's time for a new step, the overhead wiring. Just as done often in Switzerland when starting a new project we also mark all spots. This brings you a quick insight of what it's going to look like.
Using a lot of pictures we set out all spots that should hold a pole or a portal.

After first creating a paper model from the original drawings, now work starts on making the station building in plastic.

Test of Cavaglia

11-Feb-09.
We've put the plaster land aside for a moment ad connected Cavaglia through a 90degree turn to our layout. This gives us the opportunity to test before we show ourselves at the event "Rail 2009".
Cavaglia now runs as its supposed to do and the addition of motors for the turnouts are progressing well.

Cavaglia with rails

02-Mar-08
Things are progressing.
A train can drive through the station, now the separations at the end of the modules need to be reinforced. And then of course all the wiring.....

Cavaglia gets shape

01-Jan-08.
Vincent has been busy at home with the station where Cavaglia serves as an example.

Station Cavaglia

Flying wood in Val Pila.

On the left hand photo, above, can you discover the hanging tree?
It hangs from the helicopter that you can see in front of the split-up in the road.
Perhaps you can see it better on the photo underneath, here the tree hangs in front of the station building.

Woodcut just next to the railway.

Wood loading from Val Pila, the Bernina express passes Cavaglia without stopping.

For a virtual train ride you could start here on Google streetview.
