Station modules Chateau d'Oex

Chateau ‘d Oex

The city of hot air ballooning.
If you ski in Morzine during the winter, then you often see hot air balloons passing over Lake Geneva.
They all started in Chateau ‘d Oex and in the summer there is a large balloon festival too.
This characteristic station is situated near the language border.

Below you'll find a report of our modules and the original.

Our model of Chateau d'Oex

The station from the front.

The old and the new Panoramic Expres.

2 generations panorama trains.

Schimering

Our example is a bit dated.
The locomotive shed has been demolished and to the right of the station, there is now a bank.

Evening mood

Our model at night.
Even then there is plenty of liveliness.

The original

As a comparison a few pictures from Switzerland.
Here you can see why we fell in love with this characteristic little station.

The front side

The front side

A nice comparison of 2 seasons.

The rail side

Old and new

The track in the direction of Gstaad with next to it the old loc shed.
Unfortunately time has taken its toll on the shed and only a tin roof remains.
Nice detail is that there are still wooden overhead masts in use.

Luxury

The Golden Pass Panoramic Express in Chateau d'Oex

Maintenace

In September 2013 part of the tracks were renewed.
Here a full reconstruction of the station has started to adapt to modern times. I'm afraid that the new centre platform will not get such a beautiful roof as the station itself.

Now (Sept 2014) the reconstruction is still continueing.

A webcam has been mounted in 1 of the front cars of a Panoramic Express, see here for the link.

Switchbox

On the platform side you can find this nice little box on the side of the station.

The station on the rail side with and without train.
